Be like water – go with the flow…
Still dreaming of a white Christmas, desperately searching for the perfect gifts, expecting others to guess what’s all you want underneath your tree? When Christmas is just around the corner we all tend to think of the upcoming holiday as saver of our soul, as an instant source of joy, as an answer to all our questions…
Tomorrow will be the day we have been waiting for.
Everything will be different tomorrow.
I will be strong from tomorrow.
We say, we believe, even though the truth is, tomorrow is eerily similar to today, which is not surprising since… they are relatives. Yesterday fed today’s energies – nothing magically changes at midnight…
All that will happen tomorrow is the result of today’s decisions and processes. It is not that if we go to church on Sunday and confess our sins and ask forgiveness from the Lord then from Monday, everyone we were impatient with will look at us as a saint. And there can be no such thing as stopping the world for a while to thinking about how tomorrow could be truer.
However, there is such a thing that we change – with full awareness of our responsibilities. That we will not delay what we are capable of at the moment until tomorrow, but not even until the next minute. Of course,
it is not foolish to plan the future, but no one should trust that the next crossroad brings the solution. Passively waiting for answers is like hoping the food delivery guy accidentally brings the neighbor’s pizza to us.
So it’s better to say, “I’ll find in myself the strength I expect from an external energy source, knowing that all emotions come from within.” And most importantly, “I realize that neither tomorrow nor next year,
nor the times I’ll be old will bring the perfect life and immaculate world. Let go of toxic perfectionism – today. ” And with that, let go of guilt too, asl punishing oneself deprives one of accessing one’s creative powers.
Tomorrow is neither more nor less than, “Tomorrow will be tomorrow.” And we can stay the same as we were today. We could also be a little or a lot worse. And if we dare to distract ourselves from the illusion,
what’s tomorrow’s role, task, duty is in our lives, we can be better – and thus, feel better too. Have yourself a Christmas season free of irrational expectations – take it as it comes.
“Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Be water, my friend.” Bruce Lee
